The story

OpsWork was founded by Saqib Shah, who has spent 16 years designing HV networks. OpsWork started as what his own firm needed to do more engineering without a bigger team.

The engineering was the part he loved. The enquiries, the records, the evidence and the invoices kept taking the evenings. So OpsWork prepares that work, and the people who are responsible still check it and approve what goes out.

OpsWork is the result of around two years of development, from the first build through testing inside a working HV consultancy to launch. Saqib Engineering is our first customer: read the case study.

The vision

Every engineering firm runs its business side inside its own Microsoft 365: enquiries answered, drawings in order and invoices out on time, with the routine work prepared and the people who are responsible approving what goes out.

Three products come from the same place. OpsWork takes the routine business work off the team, Letterbox keeps an engineering inbox under control, and HVCO drafts cable route studies for an engineer to check.

The market

We build for the firms that design and deliver the UK's electricity networks: HV design consultancies, primary and secondary design teams, cable designers, ICPs and contestable works, and EPC and turnkey contractors. In many of them a small team carries both the engineering and the paperwork around it.

How OpsWork is funded

OpsWork is built and funded by Saqib Engineering Ltd, an ISO 9001 certified HV design consultancy in Rotherham. There has been no outside money so far, so the product answers to the engineers who use it.
