OpsWork started inside Saqib Engineering Ltd — a working UK HV substation design consultancy. Every workflow you see in the product came from a real Monday-morning inbox.

The founder

Saqib Shah is a UK chartered electrical engineer (CEng MIET) and the founder of Saqib Engineering Ltd, working across 11 kV to 400 kV substation design with SSEN, UKPN and NGED.

OpsWork was born out of a simple frustration: the same spreadsheet, the same RAMS template, the same RFI thread, every project — and every weekend disappearing into admin instead of design. The product is built first for Saqib Engineering, then sold to other UK consultancies once it has proven itself.

The discipline

  • Months of proving before you deploy

    Every feature runs 1,000+ synthetic test cycles before it sees a real client email.

  • Two-tenant separation

    Saqib Engineering production and the OpsWork dev tenant are fully isolated. Customer work is never used as our test bed.

  • Decisions, written down

    Every architectural choice gets an ADR. Every grant of access goes in the permissions ledger. Nothing happens in someone's head.

The mission

UK consultancies are scoring well below their potential because the work isn't the bottleneck — the admin is. We want chartered engineers spending their hours on the engineering, not on the spreadsheets and the inbox. OpsWork is how we get there.

The mark, four ways

Read the wordmark however helps you remember it.

The OpsWork mark carries four legitimate readings. We didn't force one — they all sit in there on purpose for the technical audience to recognise.

The literal letters of the wordmark — Operations Work.
The key
A busbar-as-key. The mark turns sideways and reads as the bit of metal that energises a substation.
Ω (omega)
Resistance. The fundamental unit every chartered electrical engineer measures the world in.
W (watt)
Power. What the substations our customers design ultimately deliver.
